The National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) is a national repository and data portal for spatial data and mapping information. The Maine GIS Maps Database includes a variety of mapping data sets, including GIS mapping data. The NSDI includes more than 4 million maps covering the entire United States.
The NSDI provides access to GIS mapping data for the general public, Federal, State, and local government entities, researchers, and developers. Maine GIS Maps Database includes mapping data from Federal agencies such as the USGS, the Census Bureau, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Bureau of Land Management; State mapping agencies, such as the Michigan Department of Transportation; and local governments, such as the cities of Detroit and Chicago.
Maine GIS Maps Database also includes data sets from private companies and nonprofit organizations. These data sets include mapping data for businesses and industries, transportation networks, land use, and water resources.
